Description
My daughter and her husband are my models for this painting. The expression on my son-in-law's face is what inspired me to do this painting. Though the original photo was taken in front of a building, I transported them to a milkweed meadow, as my daughter had turned their yard into an official Monarch Butterfly way station. They had a butterfly release at the wedding, and the butterfly on her dress was an actual guest at the wedding. The other two I added so that I would have a trio of butterflies. As I painted they came to symbolize to me the God whom my daugther and her husband were asking to bless their union. Hence the name of the painting emerged: "The Blessing". Three butterflies to represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - the triune God.
